Welcome to NRIScope (“we”, “us”, “our”), accessible at www.nriscope.com. NRIScope is a free digital platform dedicated to the global Non-Resident Indian (NRI) community, providing a space to discover and publish business information, community events, NRI organisations, and related content.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you access or use our website and services. By using NRIScope in any capacity, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and you agree to its terms.
NRIScope is owned and operated by an Australian resident. This Privacy Policy is governed by and fully compliant with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where NRIScope extends services to New Zealand, we also observe the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) to the extent applicable.
ℹ NOTE: As NRIScope expands to Canada, USA, and UK, this Privacy Policy will be updated to address relevant legislation including PIPEDA (Canada), applicable US state privacy laws, and the UK GDPR. Users in those regions will be notified of any material changes prior to the commencement of services in their region
2.0 Regional Availability of Services
NRIScope operates on a staged regional rollout. The following schedule governs which regional listings and services are currently available:
2.1- Phase 1 — Current (Launch)
- Australia — Business listings, events, and organisation directories are fully operational
- New Zealand — Business listings, events, and organisation directories are fully operational
2.2 - Upcoming Expansion
- Canada — Scheduled for future launch
- United States of America — Scheduled for future launch
- United Kingdom — Scheduled for future launch
- Rest of the World — To be announced progressively
Users from countries not yet covered by active regional services may still register on the platform and access general content. However, regional business listings, event directories, and organisation profiles will only be available for regions that have been formally launched.
ℹ NOTE: When a new region is launched, NRIScope will update this Privacy Policy and notify existing users of any changes to data handling practices specific to that region. Publishing of listings for unlaunched regions will not be permitted until the relevant regional launch is announced.
3. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information from users who register, publish content, or otherwise interact with our platform:
3.1 - Personal Information
- Full legal name and preferred display name
- Email address and contact telephone number
- Country of residence, state or territory, and city
- Business name, ABN or equivalent business registration number, business address, and business contact details
- Organisation name, registration details, and contact information (for NRI organisation listings)
- Event details including event name, dates, venue, description, and organiser contact information
- Profile information, professional history, and portfolio details (when applicable upon future feature launch)
- Any additional information voluntarily submitted through forms, enquiries, or direct communications with NRIScope
3.2 - Technical & Usage Information
- IP address, browser type, and browser version
- Pages visited, time spent on each page, and navigation patterns within the platform
- Device type, operating system, and screen resolution
- Referring website or source through which you accessed NRIScope
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 9)
3.3 - Business & Organisation Verification Data
To maintain the integrity and trustworthiness of our platform, we may additionally collect:
- Business registration certificates (e.g., ASIC registration for Australian businesses, NZBN for New Zealand businesses)
- Proof of identity documents for account verification purposes
- Event permits or authorisation letters where applicable
- Any other supporting documentation requested by NRIScope’s administrator for verification purposes
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create, verify, and manage your user account on NRIScope
- To publish and maintain your business, event, or organisation listing on the platform
- o verify the authenticity, accuracy, and currency of all published content
- To communicate with you regarding your listings, account activity, verification requests, or platform updates
- To enforce our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and this Privacy Policy
- To improve, maintain, and develop the functionality and features of our website
- To comply with all applicable Australian laws and regulatory obligations, including those of New Zealand where relevant
- To protect the rights, safety, and legitimate interests of NRIScope, its users, and the broader NRI community
- To generate anonymised, aggregated analytics and statistics about platform usage (no individual users are identifiable in such reports)
5. Publisher Obligations & Administrator Rights
⚠ IMPORTANT: This section is critically important. Please read it carefully in full before publishing any content on NRIScope.
When you publish any information on NRIScope — including but not limited to business listings, events, organisation details, or any other content — you agree to the obligations and rights set out in this section.
5.1 - Accuracy & Truthfulness
All information you submit to NRIScope must be accurate, truthful, genuine, and current at the time of submission. You are solely and exclusively responsible for the accuracy and legality of all content you publish on this platform. NRIScope does not and cannot independently verify every piece of content submitted.
5.2 - Mandatory Obligation to Update
You are legally obligated under these terms to update your listing or profile information promptly — and in any event within 14 calendar days — whenever any material change occurs. Material changes include but are not limited to:
- Changes to your business name, address, contact details, or operating hours
- Changes to the nature, scope, or status of your business operations
- Changes to event dates, venues, organisers, or event details
- Changes to organisation membership, leadership, or operational status
- Closure, suspension, or winding up of a business or organisation
- Any change that would render your published listing inaccurate, misleading, or out of date
Failure to update your listing within a reasonable period may result in your content being flagged, suspended, or permanently removed from the platform without notice and without compensation.
5.3 - Administrator’s Exclusive Right to Request Information
As the owner and sole administrator of NRIScope, we reserve the exclusive and unrestricted right to request any additional details, supporting documentation, or verification information from any user or publisher at any time, without prior notice and without providing reasons. This includes:
- Proof of identity (e.g., passport, driver’s licence, government-issued ID)
- Business registration documents (e.g., ASIC certificate, ABN confirmation, NZBN registration)
- Proof of business address (e.g., utility bill, council rates notice)
- Event permits, licences, or venue authorisation letters
- Organisation registration or incorporation certificates
- Any other supporting documentation we deem necessary to verify the legitimacy or accuracy of your published content
Users are required to respond to all administrator verification requests within 14 calendar days. Failure to respond, or provision of unsatisfactory documentation, may result in the immediate suspension or permanent removal of the relevant listing or account.
5.4 - Administrator’s Exclusive Right to Delist Content
We reserve the absolute, unconditional, and exclusive right to delist, remove, edit, suspend, or permanently delete any listing, profile, event, organisation, or other published content from NRIScope at any time, with or without prior notice, and without providing any reasons, including in the following circumstances:
- The content is found or suspected to be false, misleading, fraudulent, or fake
- The content violates any applicable Australian law, New Zealand law, or the laws of the user’s country of residence
- The content is outdated and has not been updated within a reasonable period of time despite the user’s obligation to do so
- The content promotes, facilitates, or glorifies illegal activities, hate speech, discrimination, or harm to individuals or groups
- The user has failed to respond to or comply with an administrator’s verification request within the required timeframe
- The content breaches NRIScope’s Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or any policy published on the platform
- The content is a duplicate of another listing or was submitted with the intent to deceive the community
- The continued publication of the content is deemed by NRIScope’s administrator to be contrary to the integrity, safety, or interests of the NRI community
⚠ IMPORTANT: Delisting of content does NOT require prior notification to the publisher. NRIScope’s decision to delist content is final and not subject to appeal. Delisted content will not be reinstated unless satisfactory verification is provided to the sole satisfaction of the administrator. No compensation, damages, or refunds shall be payable to any user whose content is delisted.
6. Sharing of Your Information
NRIScope does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. We may however share your information in the following limited and lawful circumstances:
- With trusted service providers who assist us in operating and maintaining the platform (e.g., web hosting providers, email service providers, analytics providers), who are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use your information for any other purpose
- With Australian or New Zealand law enforcement agencies, government authorities, or regulatory bodies when we are required or authorised to do so by law
- Where required to protect the rights, property, safety, or legitimate interests of NRIScope, its users, or the general public
- In the event of a business transfer, merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to the acquirer agreeing to equivalent privacy protections
- With your express written consent, for any other purpose not listed above
7. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your personal information is primarily stored and processed in Australia. As NRIScope expands its services to New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the UK, your data may be processed or stored in those countries where our service providers operate. We will ensure that any cross-border transfer of personal data is conducted in compliance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and applicable international data transfer standards.
By using NRIScope, you expressly consent to the transfer of your personal information to Australia and to other countries where our service providers are located, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
8. Data Storage & Security
We implement appropriate and industry-standard technical, administrative, and organisational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction. These measures include:
- Secure server infrastructure with access controls
- Encrypted transmission of data where appropriate
- Regular security assessments and vulnerability monitoring
- Restricted internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You use NRIScope and transmit personal information at your own risk.

10. Your Rights Under Australian Privacy Law
In accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), you have the following rights in relation to your personal information:
- The right to access the personal information NRIScope holds about you
- The right to request correction of personal information that is inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or misleading
- The right to make a complaint to NRIScope if you believe we have breached the APPs in handling your personal information
- The right to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you are unsatisfied with our response to your complaint
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the details provided in Section 12. We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and respond in full within 30 calendar days.
11. Children’s Privacy
NRIScope is intended for use exclusively by adults aged 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect, store, or process personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has submitted personal information to NRIScope without verified parental or guardian consent, we will promptly delete such information from our records.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. The primary governing legislation is the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Where NRIScope provides services to users in New Zealand, the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 shall also apply to the extent of those services
Any dispute arising in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the State or Territory of Australia in which NRIScope’s owner is ordinarily resident, regardless of the country from which you access or use NRIScope.
⚠ IMPORTANT: By using NRIScope, all users — whether located in Australia, New Zealand, or anywhere else in the world — expressly agree that Australian law governs their use of this platform, their personal data, and any dispute arising therefrom.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update, amend, or replace this Privacy Policy at any time. Where changes are material — particularly changes affecting the rights of users in active service regions — we will provide reasonable notice to registered users via email or a prominent notice on the platform prior to the changes taking effect.
Minor or non-material changes will take effect upon posting on this page with an updated version number and effective date. We encourage all users to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of NRIScope after any changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
